There is a music birthed beyond the streetlights, out where the air is wet and the last train passes well before bedtime. It is the sound of the peripheral marginal, close enough to wish you weren’t, far enough away to make it nice and weird. It is the sound of solitude engaging no more than is necessary with the corporate world, hardcore in an age of hard times and hard truths. It is the nagging melody suggested by a droning floor buffer in a ghostly retail park that settles in on the 10pm drive home; it is the nicotine, the kale, the quadruple espressos, the ghostly wails of medicine men and idiot kings barging in on the 90s and demanding another go. When there is nothing to do, you can’t just do nothing. These are the Slaghtlands. Here, Quiet Is The New Black.
